Reviews of Pyhrr's
European Helmets, 1450-1650: Treasures from the Reserve Collection

"This is not a very big book, but it's fairly well filled with interesting information and unique pictures.

The pictures are of helmets from the Met's reserve collection, dusted off for public viewing. The book includes only some of the helmets that were on exhibit, but they comprise a nice scope of parade, tournament, and combat helmets in various conditions. The best thing about this book is that it has some less-frequently seen (in some cases, rare) examples of helmets that you just don't get to see elsewhere.

The only thing I didn't like about this book is the restrictive time period (I like earlier period stuff too), but that doesn't take away from the overall affect and usefulness of the information presented. -E.S."
