Dark Victory Armory

Editor's Note: Dark Victory sells plastic armour, and makes no claim to the period accuracy of their materials. We are aware that many in the reenactment community have low regards for plastic armour. The Arador Armour Library does not advocate the replacment of steel armour with plastic armour when steel is appropriate, but we recognize the potential value that plastic armour has to certain segments of the reenactment community. In representing pre-plate personas while engaging in contact sport combat using hidden plastic armour, or as lightweight protection for Western Martial Arts students, we feel that Dark Victory has a place.

Jordan Weinstein (known in the SCA as Ld. Dieterick von Berne) has been involved in medieval recreation activities in excess of 20 years. Having lived and fought across the country he finally settled down and got married in Vermont where he met Daniel Curtis (known in the SCA as Ld. Daniel of Stonemarche). Daniel and Dieterick have been fighting and making armor for a total of 30 years between them.

"Our friends often asked us to 'help' put together a fighting armor... After 'helping' assemble about 40+ sets together for various folk, we realized that other people who didn't have the time or facility for making their own might want to buy it. And thus Dark Victory Armory was formed. We wanted to make affordable and effective armor for our buds so that we could hit them with sticks. Our armor is based upon the SCA pattern for the Northern Regional Army pattern with improvement and adjustments as we considered safety and performance."

Since it's inception Daniel has returned to graduate school and only comes out to play when four hands are needed for shield construction. But the Armory continues on with the able assistance of our devoted apprentice Jessica White.
